Welcome to BrilliantPad. Clean and healthy starts here!

Here's everything you need to set up your BrilliantPad system, train your dog, and support their health throughout their entire life.

Step 1: Set up your BrilliantPad system

Getting started is quick and easy

Step 2: Choose your training path

Step 2: Choose your training path

Pick the situation that best describes you, then follow the step-by-step instructions below:

1. Get ready

Before your puppy arrives, create a training space near your primary living space, like the family room or kitchen. This will be a confined area with a bed, food and water, and BrilliantPad.

2. Welcome home

We know it’s tempting to play with your puppy and let them roam free at first. Instead, immediately put your puppy on BrilliantPad in their training area to get them off on the right foot.

3. Create a daily routine

Create a daily routine. Training your pup to use BrilliantPad takes a few minutes at a time, a few times a day. Put your puppy directly on BrilliantPad at these times:

  • When your pup wakes up and before sleep
  • 10-15 minutes after eating
  • After playing
  • Anytime your dog is pacing, circling, or sniffing

For best results, be positive and consistent with training. This is a small investment with a huge pay off: a happy and healthy dog.

1. Introduce BrilliantPad

Set up your BrilliantPad in your dog's current potty spot where you would normally place potty pads. Based on your dog's preference, use a clean pad or soiled pad. You can also us Go Here Dog Attractant Spray.

2. Replace & Reduce pads

As soon as your dog uses the potty pads that's been placed on top of the BrilliantPad, replace with a clean pad. After several days of success, fold the pad in half or replace with a clean half pad. Let your dog use half pads for a full day.

3. Remove regular pads

Next, fold or cut the pad in in quarter pieces, and let your dog use quarter pieces for a day. Then, completely remove the pad so that your dog can use the BrilliantPad directly.

If your dog refuses to use a smaller pad or has an accident, clean up the mess with an enzymatic cleaner, like BrilliantPad Tidy Shot Spray, and return to the last pad size your dog successfully used.

Select the situation that applies to you:

Grass patch user

Transition from Grass Patches

  • Setup BrilliantPad in your dog’s current potty spot.
  • Place a portion of the grass patch or artificial turf on BrilliantPad. This signals your dog can go potty here.
  • After your dog has successfully gone potty on the grass or turf several times, remove some of the grass.
  • Progressively make the patch smaller until your dog goes directly on BrilliantPad.

Nervous dog transition

Even nervous dogs can be trained to use BrilliantPad. If your dog shows signs of anxiety around new items in your home, remember to take it slow.

Give your pup time to warm up to BrilliantPad, and watch this video to learn how to introduce BrilliantPad to a nervous dog.

Let your dog get comfortable

  • If your dog seems skittish, don't force it!
  • Sometimes it's necessary to remove BrilliantPad and give everyone a change to relax and reset.
  • Then re-introduce BrilliantPad covered with a blanket or potty pads. Slowly reveal a little more of the BrilliantPad machine every day until your dog is comfortable.

Training an adult dog

It is near impossible for most people to train an adult dog that is not currently using puppy pads to use BrilliantPad. After all, there is a reason people say, “It’s hard to teach an old dog new tricks!”

If you are exceptionally determined and remarkably patient, however, it may be possible to train your adult dog to use BrilliantPad.

Be mindful this is really hard and BrilliantPad does not provide training support for this use case. For best results, work with an Animal Behaviorist or Certified Dog Trainer and practice the training outlined below.

Method for training adult dogs:

  • Let your dog get comfortable on BrilliantPad. Encourage your dog to go on the BrilliantPad platform. Praise him whenever he gets on -- even if he doesn’t go potty.
  • Lead your dog to BrilliantPad by his leash at potty time. If your dog goes potty on BrilliantPad, shower him with praise and give him a treat.
  • Take along a portion of a BrilliantPad roll when you walk your dog outside. Put the pad on the ground and lead your dog onto the pad. Repeat until your dog learns to go potty on the pad outside.
  • Bring the pad indoors and put it on BrilliantPad. Lead your dog by the leash to the machine with a slightly soiled pad on the platform. Once your dog starts going potty on the pad, watch the Transition From Regular Pads video for guidance on how to help your dog transition to going directly on BrilliantPad.
  • If there is ever a challenge, return to the last successful step. Remember, you are teaching the dog new habits, and follow Training Best Practices below.

  • Avoid punishment. It delays progress and can create fear.
  • Every dog is different. Go at your dog's pace.

Be patient, positive, and consistent:

  • Reward good behavior with praise, treats, and affection
  • Avoid punishment - it slows down learning
  • Celebrate every success (Go, dog, go!)

Place your dog on BrilliantPad at these times:

  • Right after waking up
  • 10-15 minutes after eating or playing
  • When you notice signs like sniffing, circling, or pacing

Help your dog accept the machine:

If your dog is nervous about the motion or sound, use basic commands like "Sit" and "Stay" to redirect their focus and build confidence.
