Daily Training Kickstart
When your dog doesn’t know what to do, she’s not happy, and neither are you. By spending just 5 minutes a day on training, you’ll help her use Brilliant Pad like a Pro.
After taking BrilliantPad out of the box, let your dog get comfortable around BrilliantPad (accept) and encourage your dog to explore the machine (explore). If your dog is calm and/or seems interested in BrilliantPad, you can move on to training (potty).
We make it easy to get started.
Start with our "Best Practices Training Video" followed by the training that describe your situation:
All dogs require some training to adopt new behavior. Consider training 5 minutes a day to be a small investment with a big payoff: a cleaner home and a healthier dog.
Many veterinarians and animal behaviorists recommend putting your puppy in a small room or a gated area to keep your puppy safe and your floors accident free. Watch this video to learn how to use the confinement method to train puppy to use BrilliantPad.
Puppy Confinement Training Tips
Transitioning from regular pads to BrilliantPad
Helpful Tips
If your dog goes potty on a fresh grass patch or piece of artificial turf, put some of the grass or turf on BrilliantPad. Gradually reduce the size until your dog goes potty directly on the machine. Continue reading to learn how to transition dogs from from grass patches to BrilliantPad.
Be consistent and positive. Shouting is counter-productive.
Sometimes house training is a dance, one step forward, one step back. Be patient and jitterbug your way to success.
It is near impossible for most people to train an adult dog that is not currently using puppy pads to use BrilliantPad. After all, there is a reason people say, “It’s hard to teach an old dog new tricks!”
If you are exceptionally determined and remarkably patient, however, it may be possible to train your adult dog to use BrilliantPad.
Be mindful this is really hard and BrilliantPad does not provide training support for this use case. For best results, work with an Animal Behaviorist or Certified Dog Trainer and practice the training outlined below.
